GALA LEFT DISAPPOINTED

Juventus and Galatasaray have both been disappointed with their efforts to sign Manchester City midfielder Nigel De Jong.

The European Cup winner is out of favour at Manchester City, as he has often found himself playing second fiddle to the likes of Gareth Barry, and Yaya Toure. As a result, there has been talk of him moving in search of new pastures, especially as his contract is coming to a close soon, with many fans sticking football bets on him to be playing elsewhere come the end of the transfer window.

Manchester City were interested in offering him a new contract, but it seems that Nigel De Jong has rejected the offer of £100,000 a week.

Nigel De Jong was one of the important players at Manchester City after the arrival of Roberto Mancini, but he has not been able to hold down a first team after the arrival of Toure.

Now, it has been revealed that Galatasaray are one of the clubs interested in signing the player. The Turkish club have reportedly offered a bid for the player along with Juventus, who have also expressed their interest in the player. The player is expected to cost much less than the £ 17 million he cost Manchester City a few seasons ago. Still, he will be able to get around £ 10 million in transfer.

This is because he will be out of contract in 18 months time. Galatasaray have already signed a number of Premier League players in the past including the likes of Liverpool winger Albert Riera. Hence, they will be one of the favourites when Manchester City eventually agree on a transfer fee.

However, they will be facing stiff competition from Italian club Juventus, who can entice Nigel De Jong with the prospect of Champions League football, and possibly, the chance to challenge for the Italian Serie A title next season, which will be interesting for the player.
